It was reported last week that the Leeds United manager was already fighting for his life at Elland Road, after four games.
Leeds United boss Garry Monk has told LUTV that he does not feel under pressure.
The Mirror reported last week that Monk – who at the time had lost two and drawn one of his first three Championship games – was in danger of being axed.
But the 38-year-old might well have alleviated reported pressure on himself after Leeds won 2-0 at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday to get their season up and running.
The former Swansea boss is Leeds’ seventh manager in Massimo Cellino’s ruthless two-and-a-half year reign with the Whites, suggesting that the Italian businessman is unafraid when it comes to parting company with head coaches.
That being said, Monk is adamant that he does not feel any more pressure with United as he would with any other football club.
“At every club there’s a pressure to win games. Every single club. But we don’t feel that. We don’t feel no pressure. We feel like we’re at the start of our journey and we’re all trying to work very hard,” he told LUTV after being asked about the speculation.
Leeds visit Luton Town in a second-round League Cup clash on Tuesday, before then making the trip to Nottingham Forest at the weekend in what will be their last game before the two-week international break.
Going into that hiatus on the back of two defeats might well see some of the speculation over Monk’s job re-surface.
