The forward has endured a mixed spell with the Championship club.
Souleymane Doukara
Garry Monk has told Leeds United’s official Twitter account that he views Souleymane Doukara as someone who has a large amount of potential and suggested that the striker has a role to play this season.
The 24-year-old had not featured in any of the Whites’ first three Championship games of the new campaign – only making the bench for the draw with Fulham – nor did he feature in the League Cup win over Fleetwood.

And despite previously hinting to the Yorkshire Evening Post that Doukara may be on the fringe of his squad, and thus, could be one of the players who were free to leave before the window shuts, Monk appears to have now experienced a change of heart after watching the French-born forward play the last 21 minutes of United’s 2-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend, according to the club’s official Twitter account.

It is perhaps surprising that Doukara has managed to win Monk over. The club have bolstered their attacking ranks with the acquisitions of Marcus Antonsson and Kemar Roofe during this window, and the former Catania man has hardly been prolific since moving to Elland Road.
However, he has also shown in the past that his game is about more than goals.

His standout performance since joining the Peacocks arguably came in last season’s trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers when his introduction as an early substitute changed the game and played a key part in Leeds coming away from Molineux with all three points.
And if Monk has seen glimpses in training of the player that supporters saw that night against Wolves then it is actually not that much of a surprise that he believes that he has something to offer this term.
