Leeds defender Luke Ayling remains a regular for the Whites.

Luke Ayling scored a crucial goal to put Leeds back on track against Millwall.

Ayling’s goal turned the tide in Leeds’ dramatic 3-2 victory at Elland Road, in which they came from behind twice.

The right-back is coming back into form at just the right time with seven games of the season remaining.

It’s been a difficult season for Ayling, a bargain buy for the Whites for just £750,000 from Bristol City in 2016.

He has battled injuries and loss of form. In February he looked particularly off the pace.

Calls grew for Ayling to be dropped, and Stuart Dallas return from injury gave manager Marcelo Bielsa a chance to change things up.

Bielsa stuck with Ayling, and now he is seeing the benefit.

The right-back’s goal was a throwback to early in the season, when he was a threat in attack as well as strong in defence.

In recent months he has been neither. Now it is coming together, and Bielsa’s loyalty as well as Ayling’s hard work is to thank.
