Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa’s well intended comments have caused a backlash.

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has been drawn into a bit of controversy in South America after his comments on the political situation in Chile.

Anti-government protestors have led to the president sacking the entire cabinet, the BBC reported.

As former Chile national coach, Bielsa was asked about the situation last week at his press conference by foreign media.

Argentina Marca report Bielsa said: “I admire what the Chileans are doing. The common citizens. They are an example for the rest of the country. They protest in the right way, or democracy. They understand that to have a good democracy you have to do more than vote.”

Fair enough? Well his comments did not please Paraguayan football legend Jose Luis Chilavert.

Chilavert hit out at Bielsa via Twitter, report ESPN Argentina.

He posted: “Marcelo Bielsa, you are in favor of criminals who burn buildings, trains and cars. You can tell he hasn’t learned anything from life. ”

“It is easy to comment from England and that we teach him success in Vélez and he has not learned anything. The failures in football led him to populism.”

This is not the first time Chilavert has hit out at Bielsa this year.

He reacted angrily to the praise Bielsa received after the fair play incident with Aston Villa, pointing out that he did not stop play in a similar incident in a World Cup qualifier back in 2001, we reported earlier this year.

The ex-goalkeeper appears to have an agenda against the Leeds manager.

Whether right or wrong, it’s pretty clear that when the Argentine talks, the world listens.
