Leeds United and Liverpool played out a 1-1 draw on Monday night, but the game itself paled into insignificance.

Sadio Mane’s opener was cancelled out by a late Diego Llorente leveller, giving Leeds a share of the spoils at Elland Road.

This should have been a game for all to enjoy, but the saga surrounding the Super League plans left everybody angry.

Liverpool announced their intention to join the Super League on Sunday evening, angering their own fans in the process.

Joining a league which is so anti-competition is so against the values of Liverpool and their fans, so the clubs owners have come in for huge criticism.

After Monday’s game at Leeds, Liverpool ace James Milner admitted publicly that he doesn’t like the idea at all and hopes it doesn’t happen.

Patrick Bamford said similar, admitting that he couldn’t believe some of the information coming out of the Super League drama.

Leeds-born Sheffield United striker Oli McBurnie took to Twitter to praise both Milner and Bamford, believing that had shown ‘big cajones’ and were making great points at a time when strong voices were needed.
