Adam Forshaw has provided a positive injury boost on Instagram after he was substitute midway through the first half against West Ham. The midfielder has not long come back from a two-year spell on the sidelines.

Forshaw, 30, has started 10 Premier League matches in a row – after finally returning from a long-term hip injury that kept him out for two years. He has been in excellent form, as though the two-year gap was non-existent.

So much so, that Leeds decided to hand the ex-Middlesbrough man a contract extension of 12 months last week. His previous deal was due to expire at the end of the season, but Leeds have rewarded his efforts.

However, days after penning a new deal, Forshaw lasted just 22 minutes of Sunday’s win over West Ham. Though he laid on an assist for Jack Harrison, he was taken off early. But he gave a positive update on Instagram.

Indeed, Forshaw states he has suffered a small hamstring injury and says that Saturday’s clash against Newcastle remains a possibility. But if he cannot make that game, he will be ready for the trip to Villa on February 9.

Forshaw update: Big Leeds boost, midfielder has been heartbeat

Indeed, without Kalvin Phillips in the side, Forshaw has been absolutely crucial to Leeds. Back in the summer, when asked about signing a midfielder – Andrea Radrizzani was criticised for naming Forshaw.

But now, that decision has proved to be the right one. Forshaw’s energy, stamina and quality on the ball have massively boosted a side that needed legs in midfield. His update will delight fans.
