Aston Villa and Leeds United fans were in agreement with Angus Kinnear following his comments about the European Super League.

The Leeds CEO hit out at the so-called Premier League’s ‘big six’ and how the likes of Leeds, an ‘ambitious’ Aston Villa, Champions-League bound West Ham, to name a few, have ‘overwhelmed’ those thinking they are at the top, as quoted by the Atheltic.

During the past two seasons, both Leeds and Villa have earned promotion back to the big time.

And with ambitious owners under their wings, two fantastic and forward-thinking managers, high-quality talents in Kalvin Phillips and Jack Grealish, it makes the future bright for the Yorkshire and Midlands duo.

They can look towards Leicester City, who are heading for the Champions League, a West Ham team that should, at the very least, earn Europa League football and an Everton side also in that running, as examples that they can secure a European finish next term also.

Whilst the likes of Manchester City lap it up, it needs to be remembered that Everton, Villa and Leeds are historically bigger clubs than the soon-to-be Premier League champions.

Plus, Villa have something in their cabinet that Man City are craving for… the European Cup.

Therefore, it was a smack into the face to fans such as Leeds and Villa when that now-failed ESL bid first was put on the table.

Here is a selection of Aston Villa and Leeds fans reacting to Kinnear’s comments:
