Sussex Live reports that Leeds are battling Premier League duo Brighton and Brentford, and Glasgow rivals Celtic and Rangers, for Coventry City ace Gustavo Hamer. He is rated in the region of £9million and £10million.
Brazil-born midfielder Hamer, 24, has been a regular for Coventry over the past two seasons – since joining the club from Eredivisie side PEC Zwolle. He has clocked up 85 appearances for Coventry over the last two seasons.
From holding midfield, he had a hand in eight goals in his first season – scoring five and creating three. In 2021-22, he has provided much more of a creative source – laying on 10 assists and still score three more goals.

Hamer’s strengths include his passing, his work rate and his delivery from set-pieces. Brighton are leading the charge but they may face competition from Leeds, Brentford, Celtic and Rangers. His deal ends in 2024.
Coventry Live reporter Andy Turner told Sussex Live: “Set-piece delivery, particularly from corners, is outstanding. As for how much he’d cost, it has been speculated that he’s worth around the £9million-£10million mark.”
Leeds battling for Coventry ace Hamer: Which club is best?
A move to Celtic or Rangers would surely prove incredibly tempting for Hamer. Celtic have qualified for the Champions League group stages, while Rangers – reaching the Europa League final – are in the qualifying stages.
Whether either club could fork out the best part of £10million on Hamer, remains to be seen. Rangers need a midfielder, even if Steven Davis remains. Brighton and Brentford would also be brilliant moves for him.
Both clubs on an upward turn in the Premier League. Brighton need a replacement for Yves Bissouma and Brentford need depth – as do Leeds. Any of the five would be a wonderful move for Hamer this summer.
