Leeds United face Wigan Athletic this weekend and the game will present Latics attacker with a chance to prove the Whites wrong.

Wigan paid just £250,000 to sign Windass from Rangers in the summer, a few months after Leeds United were reported to be keen.

The Daily Record reported in January that Leeds were keen on Windass, with a price of £500,000 touted.

Months on the Whites stepped aside even with Windass available at half that price.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa had other ideas, and their league form so far shows that the Argentine boss made some smart choices, with the Yorkshire giants sitting in second place in the Championship.

Windass’ form for Wigan has been inconsistent but he has shown flashes. He has two goals and one assist in 13 matches.

Sunday’s televised match with Leeds is an opportunity for Windass to show Leeds that they should have taken a chance on him.

He scored a winner against promotion chasers West Bromwich Albion a fortnight ago. This is another big game for him to demonstrate what he is capable of.
