Leeds United want Arnaud Kalimuendo and their hopes have been boosted with Lens seeming out of the race for his signature.

The Whites are chasing a host of signings even after a busy start to the window.

Darko Gyabi became Leeds’ fourth summer signing on Monday as he joined from Manchester City just as Kalvin Phillips went in the other direction.

It now looks like Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra will be joining too, whilst more money will be spent once Raphinha leaves.

Another striker will be a priority for Leeds and it seems that Paris Saint-Germain talent Kalimuendo is a top target.

Leeds United want Arnaud Kalimuendo

The Independent claimed in June that Leeds had offered a deal worth €20million (£17million) for PSG attacker Kalimuendo.

News has been thin on the ground since then but PSG are going through major changes.

Mauricio Pochettino is gone and will be replaced by Christophe Galtier whilst Luis Campos is in as their new sporting director.

That means a deal for Kaliumendo likely isn’t PSG’s priority right now even if Leeds are pushing for his signature.

Leeds will have been anticipating rival interest in Kalimuendo but Lens appear to be out of the race.

Kalimuendo has been on loan at Lyon for the last two seasons, scoring 21 goals in 65 games for the Ligue 1 side.

L’Equipe reported in June that Lens were keen to take Kalimuendo on loan for a third season, which is no surprise after France Under-21 boss Sylvain Ripoll called him a ‘complete player’ off the back of his Lens loan.

The 20-year-old attacker was their priority but L’Equipe report that Club Brugge striker Lois Openda is on his way to join Lens.

A medical is imminent for the Belgian attacker, who spent the last two seasons on loan at Vitesse Arnhem in the Netherlands.

Openda racked up 37 goals and 11 assists in 88 games for Vitesse and will now replace Kalimuendo in the Lens attack.

With Lens out of the way, Leeds may feel even more confident of a move for Kalimuendo and will now hope to push home a deal in the coming weeks.
