A report from Portuguese publication Record has suggested that Leeds have decided to trigger the clause in Hadi Sacko’s contract that may potentially see them sign the winger on a permanent basis from Sporting Lisbon this summer.

Sacko’s loan spell at Elland Road will probably be remembered amongst a large portion of Leeds fans as a largely frustrating one, with some supporters perhaps even hoping that he does not return to the club during the coming months.

However, it could certainly be argued that the Whites would be making a wise decision bringing Sacko back as he showed several glimpses of genuine quality during his time in Yorkshire.

The Record reports that the potential deal will cost Leeds £1.75 million, which arguably seems to be a decent piece for a player who, at times, was capable of giving Championship full-backs a number of headaches.

Sacko is certainly some way off being the finished article, but he is still young enough to make significant improvements in the future, especially if he gets used to playing for one side and continues to build up understandings with their key players.

Wingers tend to be the kind of players that leave fans tearing their hair out the most, so Sacko is not alone in leaving supporters frustrated, but he boasts the kind of pace that will ensure that he keeps getting chances to improve.

And with Leeds no longer boasting an abundance of wingers to pick from – Alfonso Pedraza and Mo Barrow were only on loan – having someone of Sacko’s potential unpredictability and talent dancing down the flanks could go a long way to helping the side build on the promise they showed this past campaign.
