Daniel Farke’s Leeds United and Sean Dyche’s Everton have been linked with Manchester City youngster Rico Lewis.

According to The Sun (print edition, page 65, July 30, 2023), Leeds United and Everton are among the clubs who are interested in signing Rico Lewis from Premier League rivals Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

The report in the British tabloid has claimed that Southampton and Brighton and Hove Albion are also keen on Lewis.

However, City, who won the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup last season, do not want to let the teenager leave on loan.

City manager Pep Guardiola wants to keep the 18-year-old in his squad for next season.

According to the report, the Citizens are also planning to hand the England Under-21 international a new contract.

The report has added that Leeds, Everton, Brighton and Southampton all have had loan approaches for Lewis turned down.

Lewis broke into the City first team last season and can operate as right-back, left-back and defensive midfielder.

City manager Guardiola told Sky Sports in January 2023 that Lewis is “so clever” and “so intelligent.

Rico Lewis blow for Leeds United and Everton

In our opinion, Leeds United or Sean Dyche’s Everton will not be able to sign Rico Lewis from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

City manager Pep Guardiola is unlikely to let go of a player who was very good for his side last season.

Lewis is a rising star who could become a key figure in the City first team next season.

And the player himself would not want to leave the Citizens this summer.

After all, staying at City and working with Guardiola on a regular basis would help Lewis get better and add facets to his game.

Lewis made 10 starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League for the Citizens last season.

The teenager also made three starts and two substitute appearances in the FA Cup and made one start and one substitute appearance in the UEFA Champions League last season.
