Leeds United and Aston Villa are competing for Branco van den Boomen, according to Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.

The Italian journalist has claimed this morning that Leeds and Aston Villa are among the clubs who are interested in signing Van den Boomen on a free transfer in the summer of 2023.

The 27-year-old Dutchman has decided not to renew his contract with Toulouse and will leave the French club as a free transfer at the end of the season.

Sevilla and Feyenoord are also among the clubs who are keen on securing the services of Van den Boomen in the summer transfer window.

HITC Verdict: Potentially exciting signing

In our view, Branco van den Boomen would be a very good and exciting signing for Leeds United or Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.

The Dutchman is at the top of his game at the moment, and on a free transfer, he would be brilliant for Leeds or Villa.

And he is highly rated.

Stijn Spierings plays with Van den Boomen at Toulouse.

And he told Ligue1.com in March 2023 that the midfielder “has an amazing right foot” and is “really good”.

We believe that Villa are more likely than Leeds to sign the 27-year-old.

After all, the Villans could end up in Europe next season under head coach Unai Emery, while Leeds could get relegated to the Championship.
