After missing out on Cody Gakpo over the summer, it has been said that Leeds are interested in signing Noah Okafor from RB Salzburg as an alternative.

The Switzerland international has shone in Austrian football as well as the Champions League, scoring seven goals in 12 appearances so far this season – he has also provided two assists in those outings.

Yesterday, Okafor netted the latest of those strikes to nick a result which will please Leeds fans.

What’s the story?

Well, Leeds saw their bitter rivals Chelsea held to a 1-1 draw by RB Salzburg at Stamford Bridge last night, as Graham Potter failed to win his first game in charge of the Blues.

That was down to Okafor, who popped up in the 75th minute to prove exactly why Leeds are taking a look at him.

The 22-year-old has now won RB Salzburg two points in the Champions League this season against fierce opposition, having also scored in the 1-1 draw against AC Milan on matchday one of the Group Stage.

It comes after Okafor impressively scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists in 34 appearances last term.

Leeds aware of Noah Okafor price

If Victor Orta does decide to pursue Okafor instead of Gakpo, he already knows how much to bid.

Leeds have been told to pay £25m if they want to sign the Swiss forward in 2023, which could turn out to be a bargain when you consider the other talents who have emerged from RB Salzburg.

The likes of Erling Haaland, Sadio Mane and Brenden Aaronson all made a name for themselves with the Austrian giants before ending up in the Premier League, so Okafor is certainly one to be excited about.

Keep an eye on this saga, as Leeds could even revisit their interest in January.
