Leeds United’s Tyler Roberts is in line for a surprise league debut.

Leeds United centre-forward Tyler Roberts has had to be patient at the beginning of the season, but he could be thrown in at the deep end at the weekend against Millwall on Saturday.

The Whites travel to the Den without injured striker Patrick Bamford and they have been dealt another blow in attack, as top scorer Kemar Roofe has also been ruled out of the weekend fixture.

That leaves manager Marcelo Bielsa short of options in the final third and there is a chance he could turn to youngster Tyler Roberts to spearhead the attack.

Roberts failed to make his Leeds debut last season after joining in West Brom due to injury, but is a highly-rated striker with a lot of potential.

The 19-year-old has featured in the two EFL Cup fixtures so far this campaign for the Yorkshire giants, but was deployed in wide positions during both and struggled to make an impression.

The Leeds jury should be out on Roberts until he gets a run of games in the first team in his more favoured central position, something that has not happened yet.

But he has to try seize a potential window opening against Millwall to prove he can make an impact in the Championship.

Roberts has returned to Elland Road on the back of making his first two senior international appearances for Wales and should be full of confidence.

A trip to Millwall is not an easy fixture for any Championship striker, which is why he needs a few games to adjust to the level.
