Denton has made just one appearance for the Leeds first-team but is still very highly-rated at Elland Road.
Leeds United youngster Tyler Denton has told the club’s official website that he is hoping to return to training at some stage next week.
The 21-year-old has recently been suffering from an ankle problem, which has arguably left the Whites somewhat exposed at left-back, but he explained that he expects to be back contending for a spot in the first-team in the very near future.
Leeds United manager Garry Monk
“The recovery is going well, it was a bit on an innocuous injury, I just slipped in training and my ankle swelled up,” he told the club’s official website.
“I’m running again now, the rehab has gone well and I am hoping to be back involved with training from next week.”
Leeds supporters will be delighted to hear that Denton is closing in on a return to training. He provided a glimpse of what he is capable of when he scored a stunning winner on his debut to help the Peacocks to a 1-0 win over Luton in the EFL Cup.
Denton will be hoping to provide for Charlie Taylor soon
More importantly however, his return to action should give Garry Monk some peace of mind heading into the busy Christmas period.
Charlie Taylor has been excellent recently, but if the stalwart had picked up an injury over the last couple of weeks then Monk would have perhaps been left with Gaetano Berardi, who has struggled to stay fit over the last few months.
But with Denton now set to return to add further competition in that position, United can be slightly more optimistic that they can maintain their current position in the table once the Christmas run is over.
