Leeds United defender Tom Pearce joined Scunthorpe United on loan during the January transfer window.

Tom Pearce has taken to Twitter to express his delight at making his debut for Scunthorpe at the weekend – with plenty of Leeds and Iron fans praising and congratulating the left-back in response.
Despite struggling to force his way into Marcelo Bielsa’s plans during the first-half of the season, it may have surprised some supporters when he was given the green light to leave for Glanford Park on the final day of the January transfer window.
Pearce emerged into the first-team fold towards the end of last season, and was arguably one of the shining lights during a very underwhelming end to the campaign at Elland Road.
With Barry Douglas signing in the summer however, and Gjanni Alioski establishing himself as the Scotsman’s understudy this term, Pearce had spent most of his time in the under-23s before joining Scunthorpe, so these next few months could potentially be crucial for the 20-year-old.

And the Scunthorpe fans got their first glimpse of the youngster in action on Saturday as he started the 2-0 win against Accrington Stanley in a left wing-back role.
And in response to his tweet, several Leeds and Scunthorpe fans were full of praise for the youngster, who will be hoping to return to his parent club in the summer in a better position than the one he was in when he left on loan.
