According to Bild, Leeds United ace Robin Koch has been playing with a meniscus tear in recent weeks.
It’s claimed that the public weren’t informed of his information and nobody outside of Leeds were aware of the issue.
Koch ended up taking a blow to his damaged knee against Chelsea on Saturday, and was replaced for Diego Llorente.
Koch had surgery on the issue on Tuesday, and starts his rehab today so he can play pain-free for the rest of the season.
The summer signing from Freiburg has seemingly been playing this way for many weeks, as he commented on the situation.
Koch noted that he and the club’s doctors decided at the start of the season that he could play with the injury, but would eventually need surgery.

That time has now come, and with Koch hoping to play at the European Championships with Germany next summer, the procedure will help him be fit and ready.
“At the beginning of the season we decided together with the doctors that I could play like this for the time being. But it was clear to us that sooner or later we would have to perform the procedure,” said Koch. “The time came after the game against Chelsea. In view of a very important year for me in 2021, it is now crucial to be able to be back on the field in spring,” he added.
It’s admirable that Koch has been playing with such an injury for months now, and the Whites will hope to have him back sooner rather than later having gone under the knife on Tuesday.
