The Leeds United defender is a big fan of Swedish club Malmo.
Whites cult hero Pontus Jansson spoke exclusively to Swedish media outlet Sydsvenskan, and opened up on his feelings regarding a recent stunt that he pulled involving an aeroplane flying over IFK Goteborg’s stadium, taunting them regarding Malmo’s superior title haul.
The 26-year-old has proven to be a real hit at Elland Road, since moving to the club in the summer of 2016, initially on loan, making 50 appearances for the club in the process.
The towering Swede has endeared himself to the Leeds faithful with a passion and will to win that is rivalled by few players in the game.
Jansson showcased the kind of passion that has made him a hero in west Yorkshire, when he part-funded the flying of an aeroplane over IFK Goteburg’s stadium on Saturday, reminding the home side that they now trail his club Malmo by two league titles.
And the centre-back spoke exclusively to Sydsvenskan, delivering his verdict on his decision to pay half of the £1,800 it cost to fund the elaborate stunt:
“I am convinced that those from Goteborg would have done exactly the same if the roles were reversed. I actually could not care less. I’m just slipping it in about the two stars.”

Leeds and Jansson return to action with a home game against Middlesbrough on Sunday November 19th, and Thomas Christiansen will be hoping that the Swede will be fully re-focused on his duties when that time comes around.
