The summer signing has endured a difficult start to life with Leeds.

Kemar Roofe has insisted that his form since his summer move to Leeds United has not been hampered by the size of the fee that brought him to Elland Road, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports.

The 23-year-old joined Garry Monk’s men in a £3m deal (via Yorkshire Evening Post) after scoring 26 goals in competitions for Oxford United last season.

However, he has so far struggled to replicate that form for the Whites. But after putting in arguably his best display since his summer switch during their narrow win over Wolves, Roofe has claimed that he has not felt burdened by his price tag.

“To be honest I’ve not thought about that. It doesn’t affect me one bit. It doesn’t mean anything because there are players out there worth more than me. I’m just here to show what I can do,” he said, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“I’m always happy. Obviously you might not be quite as happy if you aren’t getting as much game time and yes it’s been tough but that’s part of football. You just get on with it. You don’t sulk and you work hard. I’ve enjoyed it from the start. Only 11 players can play and sometimes you have to wait your turn and take your chance. Hopefully Im doing that.”

With Roofe insisting that he has not felt under additional pressure due to the fee, it is perhaps fair to say that his struggles have been more down to the form of Chris Wood.

The New Zealander has made a very strong start to the campaign, so it has been difficult for Monk to justify leaving him out of the line-up.

That has meant that for Roofe to play, he has often had to be deployed out on the wing, which is a much more unfamiliar position for the former West Brom trainee and one that is yet to bring the best out of him.
