Leeds United play host to Middlesbrough tonight in the Championship.

Leeds ace Kalvin Phillips spoke exclusively to the Yorkshire Evening Post, ahead of his side’s clash with Middlesbrough at Elland Road tonight, and warned his team of the physical threat that Tony Pulis’ side pose.

The Whites and Boro currently sit first and second in the Championship table, separated only by goal difference, and tonight’s clash could have a huge bearing on the race for promotion, despite the fact that it comes so early in the season.

Marcelo Bielsa took over Leeds in the summer, and he has hit the ground running in his role as Whites boss, guiding his side to four wins and a draw from their opening five Championship outings.

And a win against Middlesbrough would be the ideal way for them to head into the international break.

Phillips warned his side that they will be in for a tough evening against the Teesside outfit, however, when speaking exclusively to the Yorkshire Evening Post:

“Middlesbrough will be very physical,” he said about tonight’s televised clash. “They have got a lot of big players and we are expecting an aerial game, which is what we have been working on. “Games like this are why we are here. These are the ones we want to play in. We want to be up there and whether we are first, second, third or fourth, we are still going to treat it like any other game.”

The game kicks off tonight at 19:45 and can be seen exclusively live on Sky Sports.
