Clarke made his debut for Leeds on Saturday against Brentford.
Jack Clarke has told Leeds United’s official website that working under the combination of Marcelo Bielsa and Carlos Corberan is bringing the best out of him – after he made his debut on Saturday.
Clarke, 17, came off the bench to replace Stuart Dallas as Leeds went in search of an equaliser against fellow promotion candidates Brentford. Pontus Jansson finally found parity with an excellent header in the 88th minute.
The young winger looked sharp on the flank as Leeds took the game to Brentford, in what was Dean Smith’s last game in charge of the Bees before opting to replace Steve Bruce at Aston Villa.
Clarke has been promoted to first-team training since Bielsa’s arrival and is now likely to be an important member of the first team throughout the entire campaign. He believes his relationship with Bielsa and Corberan has benefited.
“Since I’ve come back in after pre-season, It’s been good for me and brought me on as a player working under Marcelo Bielsa and all of his staff,” Clarke said. “They’ve pushed everyone on, but it’s been brilliant to train with the first team.
“[Corberan] makes it more comfortable, because if you don’t understand something, you can ask Carlos because I’ve got that relationship with him, and then he can give me advice.”
Clarke has plenty of competition on the flanks, with the likes of Pablo Hernandez, Jack Harrison, Gjanni Alioski and Stuart Dallas being used as wingers under Bielsa.
Leeds are next in action on October 20 in a lunchtime kickoff against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park, a match they will be hoping to win and get back to winning ways after only two wins in their last eight outings.
