Halliday took the armband for Mark Warburton’s Glasgow Rangers side in Wallace’s absence.
Andy Halliday
Lee Wallace has heaped praise upon Andy Halliday after the midfielder skippered Rangers to an emphatic victory in the Scottish League Cup, the Evening Times reports.
The left-back missed Tuesday’s game, and in his absence, it was Halliday that took the armband for the quarter-final clash with Queen of the South.

And the 24-year-old took many of the plaudits for a performance that saw him demonstrate the kind of leadership that the Gers’ midfield has arguably lacked this season and that saw him score the club’s second before a Martyn Waghorn hat-trick ensured that they were in the hat for the last four.
And Wallace has added to the plaudits by lauding Halliday’s contribution against the Championship outfit.
Rangers manager Mark Warburton
“I thought Andy Halliday’s performance on Tuesday night was outstanding. He really showed a leadership quality which was great to see,” he said, as reported by the Evening Times.
In the wake of the Joey Barton saga, Mark Warburton will be hoping that the incident can be used to galvanise the squad to give them the best chance of recovering from their slow start to the campaign.

But for that to happen, he will need the dressing room leaders to help carry some of the other members of the team through this tough patch.
And Halliday’s performance in midweek suggested that he is ready to be one of those leaders.
