Rangers defender Lee Wallace has explained that the squad are developing their own idea, which should help to take some of the pressure away from Mark Warburton.
Rangers defender Lee Wallace has told the Glasgow Evening Times that the squad are developing their own code of conduct ahead of the new season.
Manager Mark Warburton will be delighted that some of his key players are taking it upon themselves to make a difference in terms of the standards set in the dressing room, which should in turn make his life a little bit easier.
It should ensure consistency both on and off the field next season, as Rangers go about the challenge of trying to force their way into the Scottish Premiership by this point next year.
“The players are looking to sort out their own Code of Conduct in-house. Whether it is between ourselves or the guys who work on the (playing) fields, it is about the respect that we show and that we can all come together with the staff at Ibrox and, more importantly, the fans,” he told the Glasgow Evening Times.
“If we all go on this path together, the future is certainly looking great for Rangers.”
Encouraging responsibility
It’s good to see players showing responsibility and taking some pressure onto themselves.
It should help refine and harden the character of all of Rangers’ players, because it’s an ideology which means they can’t become complacent, relying on Warburton to carry them through difficult periods and deal with difficult issues.
Benefits for the manager
If the manager doesn’t have to worry about the mentality and the standards of his players, he can spend more time putting his energy into focusing on other areas.
Warburton needs to find a way for Rangers to invent new tactical systems and ideas, which makes the side unpredictable and gives the side a better chance of winning a higher volume of games.
