Lee Wallace left Rangers this summer and will now play for English Championship side Queens Park Rangers.

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard looks on during the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox Stadium on May 12, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Lee Wallace has claimed that he personally ‘thanked’ Rangers manager Steven Gerrard as he had to go in and ‘shake his hand’ prior to his departure from Ibrox this summer.

The former Gers left-back claimed that whilst Gerrard has unfinished business at Ibrox, he expects him to follow in the footsteps of his former England teammate Frank Lampard and land his ‘dream job’, as he is, of course, referring to Liverpool.

Wallace left Rangers last month, but prior to his departure, he had a falling out with those higher up at the club, as he won an appeal after being fined for his actions after an Old Firm defeat.

Speaking to Jim White on TalkSport (02/07/2019 at 11:20 am), Wallace spoke honestly about Gerrard, as he shared nothing but praise for him and his coaching staff.

“Even though I didn’t play under Steven Gerrard, he was fantastic for me,” Wallace told TalkSport. “What a learning experience that was for me working up close and personal with Steven Gerrard. Michael Beale, the first-team coach, he was incredible. He was fantastic for me.

“I thank them. I made sure I went in there and thanked them. It was a situation that wasn’t ideal for them to inherit – as a man I had to go in and shake their hands and wish them all the best moving forward.

“I have seen everything last year – I think with the scenario we have seen with Frank Lampard and Chelsea, it is the same with him. The manager is on a mission at Rangers. He is here for a long time, but I think we all know what his dream role could be. He is on his way to doing that because I have seen an incredible manager.”

Since leaving Ibrox, Wallace has joined another Rangers, but this time it’s Queens Park Rangers of the English Championship.

He will be working under the stewardship of his former Ibrox manager Mark Warburton, who landed the gig at the London club this summer.
