It looks like the takeover of Newcastle United has hit the skids a little.
It was reported earlier this week that the Saudi-led group’s bid to buy the Magpies was going to be delayed.
The Premier League have received a new piece of evidence with regards to the broadcast piracy allegation that has been made against the consortium in Saudi Arabia.
Newcastle owner Mike Ashley was said to be ‘increasingly frustrated’ over the delay [The Daily Mail] and another line from The Chronicle has shed more insight on the businessman’s mentality.
According to Lee Ryder, Ashley hasn’t even spoken to his closest associates about the ongoing developments and delays over selling the club he bought way back in 2007.
If true, it’s very strange that Ashley – who ‘has refused to speak to anyone’, The Chronicle adds – is keeping so very tight-lipped on this ongoing saga.
But it would tally with The Mail’s claim that he is genuinely disheartened by the latest setback.
There’s nothing Newcastle fans want more than to see the end of the Englishman’s era at St James’s Park, but it could take a little while longer yet.
