Glasgow Rangers flops Eduardo Herrera and Carlos Pena remain contracted to the Ibrox outfit.

Writing in The Glasgow Evening Times, Lee McCulloch has claimed that shifting deadwood like Carlos Pena and Eduardo Herrera off the wage bill could enable Rangers to bring even more players to Ibrox this month.
Rangers have already enjoyed a stunning January transfer window, signing Premier League veterans Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis on loan deals.
The Gers have also secured Jordan Jones and Glen Kamara on pre-contract agreements, and both will arrive at Ibrox this summer.
Signing Defoe was the final nail in Herrera’s Blues career, considering Steven Gerrard now has the 36-year-old, Alfredo Morelos, Kyle Lafferty and Ryan Hardie as striking options, while Pena is also clearly surplus to requirements in Glasgow.
Herrera was loaned to Santos Laguna in his native Mexico last summer, while his compatriot Pena has endured failed loan stints at Cruz Azul and Nexaca over the past 12 months.
The pair cost Rangers close to a combined £4 million in the summer of 2017 during Pedro Caixinha’s reign, meaning that they are high earners.
And Ibrox legend McCulloch reckons that getting rid of both this month could free up some finances for Gerrard and Director of Football Mark Allen to continue their winter shopping.

He told The GET: “Rangers do need to get players out. I am sure Edouardo Herrera and Carlos Pena will be two guys who they are keen to cut their ties with.
“I just don’t see where they would fit in. They have three strikers so they don’t need Herrera. And as for Pena? The squad is heavy with central midfield players.
“They are surplus to requirements with the players coming in. It is doubtful that either of them were good enough anyway. If they go it could free up some wages to bring in some new players before the window closes.”
