Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side were outplayed and outclassed by Brendan Rodgers Celtic last weekend.

Rangers legend Lee McCulloch spoke exclusively to the Glasgow Evening Times, and suggested that the two-week international break came at just the right time for his former club, after their defeat to Celtic.
The Gers seem like a club reborn, following the appointment of Steven Gerrard as manager in the summer, but they were brought back down to earth by their bitter rivals in the Old Firm Derby nine days ago.
The defeat to Celtic was Rangers’ only loss of the season so far, however, so there have definitely been signs of real improvement at Ibrox.
McCulloch, who spent eight years with Rangers, shared how the two-week international break came at just the right time for his former club, in spite of the fact that it might have not seemed that way for the players, when speaking exclusively to the Glasgow Evening Times:

“On the face of it, after a defeat in the Old Firm derby, it would look to have been bad timing for Ranger to have been left licking their wounds. I’m sure the players, whether they are away with their countries or not, would have loved to have gotten out on the pitch that midweek to put things right. But after the hectic start to the season, I actually believe that the respite might be a good thing for Rangers, and it will give the players and the manager a chance to reflect on what they have achieved in the jam-packed schedule they had from July through to the start of September.”
Next up for Rangers is a home game against Dundee on Saturday, and Steven Gerrard’s men will be desperate for all three points, as they look to bounce back from their defeat to Celtic.
