Rangers are right in the mix in the race for the title.

Rangers legend Lee McCulloch offered high words of praise for Steven Gerrard’s men, when speaking exclusively to the Glasgow Evening Times, suggesting that his former side are right in the mix for the Scottish Premiership title.

The Gers have made a decent start to life under Gerrard, and currently sit in third spot in the Scottish Premiership table, just two points adrift of league leaders Celtic.

Rangers were in scintillating form last time out against Motherwell at Ibrox, winning the game 7-1, and displaying some real quality all over the pitch.

McCulloch, who spent eight years at Ibrox, highlighted his former club’s strength-in-depth as a real positive factor, suggesting that they are right in the mix in the race for the league title, when speaking exclusively to the Glasgow Evening Times:

“Another pleasing factor was the strength in depth of the squad that was being showcased. The fact that these guys can come into the line-up and make such impressive contributions bodes well for what will be a hectic period leading up to Christmas. There will be injuries and suspensions to contend with, and it will be vital that the Rangers side isn’t significantly weakened when manager Gerrard has to turn to his back-up players if they are to keep pace at the top of the division. Make no mistake, Rangers are right in that mix. It may well be that whoever can best weather this heavy fixture schedule over the next seven or eight weeks will be the ones to go on and take an important advantage into the second half of the season. It looks to me as if Rangers are equipped to do just that.”

Next up for Rangers is a home game against Livingstone on November 24th, and it would take a brave man to bet against Gerrard’s men racking up another three points on their quest for their first top flight title since 2011.

Steven Gerrard is unveiled as the new manager of Rangers football Club at Ibrox Stadium on May 4, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.
