Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side have really impressed so far this season.

Rangers legend Lee McCulloch spoke exclusively to the Glasgow Evening Times about his former club’s rise to the top of the Scottish Premiership table, and listed five key factors behind their impressive start to the season.
The Gers have been totally transformed as a football club since Steven Gerrard took over as manager in the summer, and they now sit one point clear of Celtic at the top of the table, although they have played a game more than the Hoops.
The Glasgow giants are also in with a chance of qualifying for the knock-out stages of the Europa League, with a win in Vienna next week required to do just that.
Rangers have not won the league since 2011, and they will be desperate to prevent Celtic from winning their eighth consecutive league title this season.
Whilst the Hoops are still favourites to win the league, Rangers seem like they will push them all the way this term.
McCulloch highlighted five key factors that have been crucial to Rangers’ rise to the top, when speaking exclusively to the Glasgow Evening Times:

“Spirit. Togetherness. Resilience. Character. Mentality. Rangers have shown that they have all those things this season and the win over Hearts on Sunday summed up the traits that Steven Gerrard has instilled in this squad. Psychologically, for Rangers fans, management and players and everyone involved with the club, to see your name at the top of the league again is huge.”
Next up for the Gers is a home game against Aberdeen tomorrow night, before they travel to Dundee on Sunday, and a return of six points from those fixtures will further cement their place at the top of the league.
Whether Rangers are ready for a genuine title challenge, however, remains to be seen.
