Rangers returned to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership this past Saturday, as the Gers got the better of Dundee 4-0 at Ibrox.
Kent, who joined Rangers on a season-long loan deal from Premier League club Liverpool in the summer transfer window, scored for the Gers in the 14th minute.
Former Rangers captain McCulloch, who played for the Ibrox club from 2007 until 2015, believes that Kent needed the goal he scores for the Gers.
The former Scotland international has also praised 18-year-old Rangers winger Glenn Middleton following his performance and goal against Dundee.
McCulloch wrote in The Glasgow Evening Times: “It was brilliant to see Ryan Kent and Glenn Middleton get their first goals for Rangers at the weekend and both players will take so much confidence.
“I think Kent needed it to be honest. It is clear to see that he is a right good player, he has got pace and he is direct.
“Middleton has really taken his chance at Rangers and the manager clearly likes him and sees him as a part of his squad.
“To come on and score for Rangers, especially at Ibrox, will be huge for him at just 18-years-old and that is a real positive for him and the manager.”

Progress
Kent is a very talented and promising young winger, and the Liverpool-owned man has been playing well for Rangers so far this season.
The goal the 21-year-old scored this past weekend will have boosted his confidence, and Rangers fans can expect a lot more from him in the coming weeks and months.
