Rangers have been linked with bringing Eamonn Brophy to Ibrox.
Ex-Rangers captain Lee McCulloch has told The Scottish Sun that he thinks Kilmarnock forward Eamonn Brophy is set for a huge future amid links with a move to Ibrox.
Brophy, 23, racked up 12 goals and three assists for Kilmarnock this past season, and has now been rewarded with a call-up to the Scotland squad under his former Killie boss Steve Clarke.
Brophy has emerged as one of the most talented young forwards in the Scottish Premiership, offering great versatility as he can play out wide or up front.
It’s now no great surprise that Brophy is being linked with a move away from Rugby Park, with TEAMtalk recently suggesting that Rangers, Leeds United and Derby County are keen.
Rangers signing Brophy may be seen as uninspiring or even controversial having been in the Celtic ranks, as Michael O’Halloran was fighting that tag throughout his time at Ibrox.
However, Brophy has now been hailed by ex-Rangers captain McCulloch, who signed the attacker for Kilmarnock having left Hamilton Academical.
McCulloch had praised Brophy for having impressive technical, hold-up play and pace, as well as an ‘unbelievable shot’ with either foot, and predicted that he will have a bright future – so if Rangers weren’t actually looking at Brophy before these comments, they may be wise to add him to their radar having impressed for Killie.
“He’s got a good touch, he can hold the ball up, he’s got a good burst of pace and can run in behind,” said McCulloch. “He has got an unbelievable shot with both feet but the most important thing is he runs and works so hard. His goal against Rangers, people say it was the centre half making a mistake — but that’s Eamonn putting the defenders under pressure and forcing the mistake. He’ll kick on and I can see him going on to bigger and better things.”
