Lee Wallace has played over 200 games for Rangers, but his contract is due to expire at the end of the season.
Lee McCulloch has urged Rangers to give Lee Wallace a proper send-off at the end of the season with his contract sent to run out in the summer.
The 31-year-old has only played 49 minutes of Premiership football this season [transfermarkt] and it remains to be seen whether he’ll be given any minutes on the pitch by manager Steven Gerrard as the campaign draws to a close.
He only has months left on his current deal [transfermarkt] and his former teammate wants him to be given the respect he deserves as he says his goodbyes to Ibrox.
“Lee Wallace is now in the final weeks of his Rangers career and I hope he gets a chance to say goodbye to the supporters and gets the send-off he deserves after his service to the club,” McCulloch told the Evening Times.
“He has been a really important figure on and off the pitch during his time at Ibrox. I became really close to Lee a few years ago when Rangers were in a terrible state and we both did what we could to help the club and help the dressing room through that period.
“We had to step up and be leaders and that is what we did. We both had offers to leave Rangers but we didn’t want to. That is just the truth of it. We didn’t want to leave. I am certainly glad that I stayed and I know that Lee was as well.”
The Gers are still looking to lock up second spot, with third-placed Kilmarnock eight points behind them, but more than likely, they will finish as runners-up this term.
On the final day of the season, Rangers will travel to Rugby Park to take on Killie and it remains to be seen if Wallace plays any part.
During his career at Ibrox, he has played 261 games for the club, scoring 25 goals and supplying 58 assists to his teammates from left-back [transfermarkt].
