Gerrard has taken his Rangers squad to Spain for a summer training camp.

Rangers icon Lee McCulloch has claimed his Glasgow Evening Times column that manager Steven Gerrard is putting his squad through a rigorous training routine of double sessions – something which McCulloch likes.
Gerrard, 37, has taken his squad to Spain to prepare for the upcoming campaign, which begins early for thew Gers on July 12 in the first round of qualification for the Europa League.
New signings Allan McGregor, Scott Arfield, Jamie Murphy, Nikola Katic, Ovie Ejaria and Connor Goldson have all joined the squad inSpain, as Gerrard looks to make his side fitter when it comes to facing Celtic.

Former Gers captain McCulloch claimed in his column that Gerrard had implemented double sessions, and has applauded Gerrard for deciding to train twice a day as he feels Rangers were lacking fitness against sides last season.
“If he [Gerrard] is to remedy the shortcomings of the Rangers squad in both their physicality and their mental strength, then their pre-season training camp to Andalucia is a great place to start,” McCulloch said.
“I was encouraged to hear that the players are being put through punishing double sessions each day when they are over there. You definitely felt the benefit later in the season if you had put the hard yards in during the summer.
“If Rangers are to have any hope of challenging Celtic, then it seems like such a simple area where they can close the gap. They have to show that they are willing to work as hard as their rivals are to give themselves a chance of success.”

Gerrard has already began revamping his Rangers squad, by offloading Joe Dodoo and Jason Holt this month on loan while his six new signings have enthused Gers fans.
Rangers face a difficult opening test in the Scottish Premiership, as they travel to Pittodrie to face Aberdeen. They than face St. Mirren at Ibrox and Motherwell at Fir Park, before travelling to Parkhead to face Celtic.
