Rangers striker tipped to leave Ibrox by ex-Gers star.

Lee McCulloch has told the Evening Times that he believes Jermain Defoe’s recent form could end Kyle Lafferty’s Rangers career.

The ex-Gers star hailed Defoe’s form and former ability, which he believes the Rangers striker is showing flashes of.

Defoe signed on loan mid-season, complicating Kyle Lafferty’s chances, who had already been behind Alfredo Morelos in the pecking order.

Lafferty signed for Rangers just last summer, but McCulloch is predicting a quick exit for him.

He said: “He was a world class striker and has shown recently with his performances and his goals that he is still able to contribute.

“So it will have been a hard one for Kyle, but he will probably admit himself that he didn’t hit the ground running at Rangers. From then, it was always going to be hard for him.

“It looks like his time will be cut short and he will leave Ibrox at the end of the season.”

Whether Lafferty stays could depend on if Rangers keep Alfredo Morelos or not, which could be influenced by big bids coming in this summer.

The Light Blues have in recent days been linked with strikers Andre Gray [The Herald] and Mirko Maric [Daily Record], and that is not a good sign for Lafferty considering his lack of starts.
