Aston Villa beat Bristol City 5-0 back in January and Lee Johnson was not impressed.

Bristol City boss Lee Johnson’s comments about Aston Villa back in January now look embarrassing.
Johnson was frustrated with the Villa Park crowd, who taunted his side, when Villa thrashed them 5-0.
At that stage, Bristol City were ahead of Villa in the Championship table, and Johnson suggested that his side would have the last laugh.

“It was interesting to hear the Villa fans mocking us, Bruce flicking the ball all over the gaff – we’re still three points above them. Let’s see where we are at the end,” he said to the Birmingham Mail.
However, the comments have backfired on Johnson now, as Bristol City have collapsed while Villa have got stronger.

Villa are currently in fourth place in the Championship table, and are sure to be in the play offs this season.
Johnson’s side, on the other hand, have slipped all the way out of the top six, and now look rank outsiders to claim a play off place.
The Robins have fallen down to 10th place in the Championship table, 16 points behind Villa.
And Johnson is surely regretting making the comments he did about Steve Bruce’s men back in January now.
