Palmer moved to Huddersfield Town on loan from Chelsea, where he is a clubmate of Bristol City loanee Tammy Abraham.

Bristol City manager Lee Johnson has admitted his ongoing interest in Huddersfield Town forward Kasey Palmer, via the Bristol Post.

Palmer is currently impressing at Huddersfield, whom he joined on loan from Chelsea in the summer, and was on the Robins’ list alongside Stamford Bridge colleague Tammy Abraham, who made the temporary switch to Ashton Gate instead.

City did not approach him in the end, however, as they were already ‘deep in’ negotiations to re-sign Lee Tomlin on a permanent basis from AFC Bournemouth.

According to Johnson though, the 20-year-old could still become a Robins player in future.

“He is a top young player and one we looked at seriously last summer,” the 35-year-old admitted to the Bristol Post. “He is one we were keen to bring in, even though we went with Lee Tomlin in the end.

“Obviously, we never got to the point where we approached Chelsea with it, because we were deep in with Tomlin.

“It’s a bit rude of me to talk in terms of maybe getting him, because Huddersfield put together a really good case, just like we did with Tammy, and he has slotted into their team perfectly.

“But he’s a good player, one that we were interested in and one we will always be interested in were he to become available again.”

In 18 outings this season, Palmer has scored or created six goals for his temporary employers and the prospect of a future link up with Abraham will no doubt whet the appetites of Bristol City supporters.

19-year-old Abraham has already scored 12 goals for the Robins in all competitions, and added another two on his full debut for the England Under-21s.

Should the striker continue his early-season form, it is unlikely he would return to Ashton Gate at the end of his initial loan spell.
