Speaking to the club’s official website. Rangers defender Lee Hodson has urged his teammates to thrive off the pressure that comes with playing with the club.

It has been another disappointing week for the Gers, who have struggled in both the league and cup.

First, they were beaten by Celtic in the Scottish League Cup semi-final on Sunday afternoon, courtesy of Moussa Dembele’s 87th minute winner, and then played out a disappointing draw with St Johnstone on Wednesday evening.

That result left them with 16 points from their first ten games and nine points behind Brendan Rodgers side, who lead the table.

The pressure is on Mark Warburton’s team to turn things around and Hodson has urged his teammates to thrive upon it.

“We know there are expectations playing for Rangers and we know the fans have high expectations and so do we as players,” he told the club’s official website.

“We need to thrive off those expectations and I know as a bunch of players we are very confident in our ability and the squad we have here and we know what we can do.”

The defender has also hit back at suggestions that the Gers need to change their style for success in the Scottish Premiership.

The side plays a distinctive style under manager Mark Warburton, with the former Brentford boss preferring his side to play out from the back.

Given they have managed just four wins from their first ten games some have claimed that they need to make a change to solve their form, but Hodson insists that is not necessary.

“We don’t need to change the way we play, we believe in the way we play and I’m sure if we carry on the way we’re playing then the results will come our way,” he added.
