Rangers defender Lee Hodson has revealed to The Glasgow Evening Times how he managed to keep Celtic winger Scott Sinclair quiet.

The Gers played out a 1-1 draw with Old Firm rivals Celtic away from home at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership earlier this month.

Celtic headed into the game as favourites and were expected by many to pick up all three points.

Rangers, though, stepped up their game and deservedly picked up a point from the Old Firm derby.

Hodson featured for Rangers in the match. The 25-year-old defender started the game and played for the entire 90 minutes.

The Northern Ireland international has revealed how he managed to keep Sinclair quiet.

The former Chelsea and Manchester City winger joined Celtic from Aston Villa in the summer of 2016, and has been one of the best players for the Hoops so far this season.

“On a personal note, I always think I can do a bit better and I am always critical of myself,” Hodson told The Glasgow Evening Times. “But I was pleased with my performance.

“Scott Sinclair has been doing well, he has played in the highest leagues in England and played for big clubs.

“I knew what he was about. I have played against him before at Swansea so I knew how difficult and tricky and quick he is. So I had to be tight to him and not let him get the ball and face up and run at me with it.”

Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 83 points from 29 matches.

Brendan Rodgers’s side are 25 points clear of second-placed Aberdeen and look set to win the championship title this season.

Meanwhile, Rangers currently find themselves third in the standings with 50 points from 29 matches, eight points behind second-placed Aberdeen.
