Lee Hendrie has admitted that he can’t see past a Leeds United and Aston Villa playoff final following their drama-filled 1-1 draw at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon.

Both teams have secured their places in the playoff semi-finals, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side, at this moment in time, locked in to play Derby County, whilst Villa will take on neighbours West Brom.

There are still games to be played in the regular season and places can change. Albion can leapfrog Leeds on the last day which will mean a playoff semi-final against Villa for the Yorkshire club. Whereas, Frank Lampard’s side could still miss out on finishing in the top-six altogether.

Nonetheless, speaking to Sky Sports Football (28/04/2019), Leeds and Villa supporters will absolutely love the prediction that has been made by Hendrie ahead of those epic playoff matches.

“It’s looking like it’s going to be, Villa and West Brom,” Hendrie told Sky Sports Football. “Obviously, it is out of Middlesbrough and Derby for that last spot.

“I’m looking at the sides that are in it. I think Villa are in a fantastic position at the moment. The way they have been in these last 10-12 games they have been superb, they really have.

“Leeds, I feel are very good. I just think looking at it from the four teams that are going to be left in it I’m looking at Leeds and Villa final.”

Leeds only need a point on the last day of the regular season to all but confirm third spot in the table. They take on Paul Lambert’s already-relegated Ipswich away from home.

It is looking highly likely that Villa will meet their Midland rivals West Brom in the semi-finals, with the Baggies winning the previous encounter between the two teams in February.

Dean Smith’s side have won 10 out of their last 12 matches in the league and they actually last suffered a defeat at home to West Brom.
