Former Aston Villa coach Roy Keane recently parted ways with Championship side Nottingham Forest.

Lee Hendrie believes ex-Aston Villa coach Roy Keane wouldn’t suit Birmingham City if he were to become their next manager following his departure from Nottingham Forest.
Former midfielder Keane, who was Villa assistant under Paul Lambert, recently left a similar role at Nottingham Forest as talk hots up about him wanting to become a manager again [TalkSport].
Keane wasn’t the only one leaving a managerial role in the Midlands recently, with Birmingham City sacking Garry Monk as their manager, with the St Andrews post now becoming available.
Speaking to TalkSport (23/06/2019 at 1:10 pm), former Aston Villa midfielder, Hendrie commented on whether the vacant Birmingham job would suit Keane.
“If he [Keane] is going to be linked with the Birmingham City job, I think it’s such a big job for him to go and take on,” Hendrie told TalkSport. “Especially having come out of the managerial side for quite some time, I think it has to be the right job for him. I wouldn’t say Birmingham City is perhaps the best job in the world for him to take on.
“With what we have seen go on there during the past few years, the talk of Gary Rowett, why did he leave the club? Even Harry being there – this is a big decision for Roy if it is to be [in regards to moving into managment].
“We had him at Aston Villa and I found him to be a fantastic guy. I liked the way he’s got that steel about him. I like the way he talks to people. That was the way I was brought up. These days it is a big change in management.”

During his playing career, Keane was regarded as one of the best defensive-minded midfielders in the game as he captained Manchester United to numerous Premier League titles and a Champions League triumph.
That trophy-ridden playing career, and the success that came with it, hasn’t transcended itself into management as the Irishman has managed the likes of Sunderland and Ipswich Town during his career.
It wouldn’t be a surprise if Keane does take a managerial hot seat somewhere in the not too distant future, as he will be looking to test himself at the highest level possible.
