Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finally left Arsenal on deadline day for Barcelona and the striker has tried to explain his relationship with Mikel Arteta after the move – prompting a brutal response from Lee Dixon.

Aubameyang, 32, has moved to Barcelona on a permanent deal – joining the club on a contract until the summer of 2025. Arsenal chose to actually terminate his contract before allowing him to join the Nou Camp side.

It comes after being ostracised from Mikel Arteta’s side, having returned late from a trip to see his Mother. It is one of a string of examples in which the ex-Arsenal skipper flouted the rules – resulting in losing the armband.

Since the move, Aubameyang has spoken publicly about Arteta: “My last few months at Arsenal were complicated. I never wanted to do anything wrong. My problem was only with Arteta. I can’t say much, I wasn’t happy.”

Dixon took to Twitter to respond to the comments made by Aubameyang, posting either a harsh and slightly abrupt response – or a hilarious one, depending on your opinion on the matter. He posted “I don’t care.”

Dixon on Aubameyang: Arteta problem was Arsenal man’s doing

Arteta started Aubameyang every week, gave him the captaincy, and there was clearly a real relationship between manager and skipper growing. Aubameyang speaks of a problem between the two.

That is only going to happen when you do not respect your manager’s rules. They are there for a reason. Of course he is going to have a problem with you if you stop listening to what he says.

Arteta cannot be blamed in this scenario and ultimately, it has proved good timing. Aubameyang’s form had dipped, and was not worth the £350,000 a week he was being paid. Time for a change.
