Former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon shared an interesting anecdote about Italian striker Simone Zaza yesterday (15/10/2016) whilst in commentary for NBC Sports’ coverage of the Crystal Palace v West Ham United game.

Zaza arrived on loan from Juventus at West Ham this summer, as Slaven Bilic looked to increase the striking options at the London Stadium.

But Dixon claimed that Bilic was often asking former West Ham and Arsenal striker Ian Wright what he thought of him throughout the summer.

Dixon, Bilic and Wright all worked together for ITV’s coverage of the European Championships in France and the former Arsenal full-back stated that Bilic would often ask Wright his thoughts on Zaza as a potential signing for West Ham.

Zaza has so far struggled to have an impact at West Ham but he put in a brilliant shift for the club against Palace yesterday – in a game that the Hammers eventually 1-0 thanks to a goal from Argentine midfielder Manuel Lanzini.

Zaza is still waiting for his first goal for West Ham and fans at the club will be hoping that is just around the corner.
