Sunderland have a very exciting young prospect on their books.

Young Sunderland forward Lee Connelly has been speaking to the club’s official website after he finally returned for the under-18s.
The teenager joined the Black Cats from Queens Park earlier this summer and he quickly impressed, scoring a quite superb 10 goals in five pre-season youth friendlies.

As a result big things were expected of the 16-year-old in Sunderland’s academy this season. However, a minor injury blow meant both he and the Black Cats coaching team had to wait for his first competitive action of the campaign.
That came against their Newcastle United counterparts earlier this month and now he is hoping to make a considerable impact and fill his scoring boots for his new club.

Speaking to safc.com, Connelly said, “It was great to be back and get on the pitch but the result is the main thing and that was disappointing.
“Hopefully I can help the team get a few points on the board because I feel in good shape and pretty sharp as well.”
Sunderland’s senior side have not had the best start to the new campaign and that is something manager David Moyes will be desperate to turn round in the weeks ahead. However, he should also keep a close eye on the next generation – and certainly on a player who scored for fun over the summer.
