Celtic are reportedly keen on Kilmarnock defender Greg Taylor.

Former Kilmarnock boss Lee Clark has told The Scottish Daily Mail (25/06, p79) that he would tell Neil Lennon to sign Killie’s Greg Taylor if Kieran Tierney moves on.

Celtic star Tierney has impressed over the last four seasons, and he’s now attracting major interest from the Premier League, most notably from Arsenal.

Celtic may well end up selling the Scotland international, and his exit would leave Lennon with major problems at left back, after Emilio Izaguirre left the club for free.

The Bhoys may need two left backs to come in this summer, and the Daily Mail claim that Kilmarnock’s Taylor is one name on the list at Parkhead.

Taylor, 21, actually came up through the ranks with Rangers, but his outstanding displays for Kilmarnock have put him on Celtic’s radar.

Taylor earned a first Scotland cap earlier this month, and whilst Kilmarnock will fight to keep hold of him, Celtic may well make their move this summer.

Now, Taylor’s former Killie boss Clark – currently in charge of Blyth Spartans – has admitted that he thinks Taylor could become a ‘special’ left back in the coming years.

Clark added that he’d happily tell Lennon to sign Taylor if Tierney goes, believing that he would have no problems stepping up to play for the Bhoys in Tierney’s place.

“Greg always stood out as a good player and now a lot of people are sitting up and taking notice,” said Clark. “I think a lot of clubs will be looking at him north and south of the order. He could be a special little left back.”

“Put it this way, there is a lot of talk Tierney going to Arsenal. If that happened, and Neil Lennon rang me up about Greg, I’d have no qualms about recommending him as being good enough to handle the pressure of playing for Celtic. No problem whatsoever,” he added.
