Joel Asoro helped to inspire a Sunderland comeback against Bristol City last weekend.
Asoro was Sunderland’s hero last weekend, as he played a huge role in helping an unlikely comeback.
Sunderland had fallen 3-0 down at Bristol City, before Asoro and the rest of his Black Cats teammates turned things around.
It was Asoro who helped to score the decisive goal, as his cross was deflected into the back of the net by a Bristol City defender.
And Cattermole claims that Asoro is a huge talent. The experienced midfielder said: “Joel plays at home through the middle at Hull and causes havoc and on Saturday he hadn’t really shown until he did what he did from a wide position.
“It’s difficult for the manager to then work out what’s his best position. That’s all the stuff we’re trying to work out – where’s best to put people to get the best out of them. Joel’s different class. He’s got that pace to beat a man in the final third and I think that’s what really changed it for us. We got crosses in the box in the second half.”
Coleman has already promised that he will make changes to Sunderland’s starting line-up, because he was so frustrated with the way his side performed against Bristol City last weekend in the first-half.
Asoro, though, will surely keep his starting place when Sunderland take on Brentford.
The Black Cats go into the game with momentum on their side, after their sensational comeback, and Coleman will be hoping that his side finally play to their potential.
Sunderland are currently in 23rd place in the Championship table, three points adrift of safety.
