Sunderland have brought in Lee Camp on loan from Cardiff City until the end of the season.
Camp joined Sunderland on deadline day, and has immediately been instated as number one stopper at the Stadium of Light.
The 33-year-old had been warming the bench at Cardiff City, prior to his move to Wearside.
And Camp says that he jumped at the chance to join Sunderland, as soon as he found out there was a possibility of a deal going through.
“He didn’t have to sell it,” Camp said. “I have played up here many times, I am a football fan and everyone knows the size of the club. “As soon as I heard, I couldn’t believe it. ‘Let’s get the fuel in the car and get going!”
Camp has made a solid start to life at Sunderland, and is yet to make any glaring errors.
Chris Coleman will be glad to have Camp involved now, as Robbin Ruiter has picked up an injury recently.
Ruiter had looked shaky over the first half of the season, but if Coleman hadn’t signed a goalkeeper his current options would have looked very short.
Camp is competing with Jason Steele for a place in goal for the Black Cats.
Sunderland are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Bristol City.
