Former Leeds star and current Charlton boss Lee Bowyer has huge admiration for Marcelo Bielsa.

Bielsa, as controversial as things have been around him, is one of the most respected managers in world football. The Leeds United boss has gotten his side off to a fine start this season and are on top of the table after winning five out of their first eight league games.
Charlton, on the other hand, have surprised everyone and a win tomorrow against Leeds will see Bowyer’s men go level on points with Leeds. The Addicks were widely expected to fight for a spot in the league after achieving promotion from League One at the end of last season.
However, Bowyer has worked his magic but there is still one thing that he finds missing in his players that Bielsa’s men have – extraordinary fitness levels. The Addicks boss revealed that he will ask Bielsa about the training methods which have made them stand out from the rest of the teams.
He said: “Their fitness is unbelievable, I’ve not seen anything like it in this division, and I’ve watched every team. The way they attack, break and get back in defence is great to watch. I’ll ask him how the hell has he got his lads to the fitness that he has?! I’d love to know.”

Bowyer has surprisingly claimed that his players would be on the floor after a running session which isn’t particularly good news considering the long season ahead of them. However, he said that he would love to find out Bielsa’s fitness secrets for his players to last the campaign.
“It might be to do with the sports scientist but I’d love to know or what they do. Our lads are laying on the floor in bits with the running we do. I’d love to know the type of running they do, he’s from a different country so he may have different ways of doing things, it’d be great to see the way they work.”
