Lee Bowyer says Joe Hart is a massive signing for West Ham.

Former West Ham midfielder Lee Bowyer has said that England goalkeeper Joe Hart is a “massive signing” for the Hammers.

The England goalkeeper joined the London club last week on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City.

The deal will cost West Ham £4.5 million in total, with the goalkeeper set to earn £2.5 million in salary from the London club, according to reports from The Guardian.

Hart, who has 71 international caps under his belt, spent the last season on loan at Torino, but is not in the first team plans of City manager, Pep Guardiola.

West Ham had problems in goal last year, with both Adrian and Darren Randolph hardly convincing.

Hart with his vast experience and organisational ability is likely to be the first choice, especially after Randolph moved out to Middlesbrough.

Bowyer believes that the addition of Hart is one of the best singings of the window so far.

“Joe Hart is a massive signing,” the Charlton Athletic assistant manager told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.

“I think he’s probably one of the better signings so far in the Premiership because to get a goalkeeper of his stature I think that’s what we lacked last season. I think he’s a great signing.”
