Aston Villa loanee Jed Steer provided an assist in Charlton Athletic’s latest win in League One.

Jed Steer continues to give parent club Aston Villa something to think about after he provided an assist in Charlton’s latest win which prompted Lee Bowyer to tell the Addicks’ official website that the goalkeeper’s distribution is unbelievable.

Steer is enjoying an excellent spell at The Valley and is probably leaving some Villa supporters wondering why the club decided to loan him out during the summer.

He may not have kept a clean sheet against Bristol Rovers on Saturday, but he did manage to earn plenty of plaudits after providing the assist for the opening goal.

The keeper collected the ball and produced a perfect kick from his hands to find Jamie Ward running down the right-wing. Ward had a fantastic first touch before deliciously dinking the ball over the Gas goalkeeper.

It was arguably one of the best route-one goals you are likely to see. And Bowyer was full of praise for both men who played a part in the goal.

“Obviously we work on that. When he (Steer) comes and collects things, his distribution is unbelievable. At times it is like having an outfield player in the goal. It was a great touch from Ward,” he told Charlton’s official website.

Dean Smith head coach of Aston Villa during a training session at the club's training ground at Bodymoor Heath on November 06, 2018 in Birmingham, England.

Birmingham Live recently reported that Villa can recall Steer in January if Dean Smith wishes to. And while the Villa boss may want to sign a much more experienced number one in an ideal world, he can surely not rule out bringing Steer back into the fold.

Steer is certainly doing a fantastic job of proving a point to his parent club. And with his distribution now catching the eye, Smith has arguably been given another reason to keep a close eye on the 26-year-old who, of course, left before his arrival.
